Tea Room Menu

Tearoom Menu

We serve hot lunches every day: homemade soups, main dishes, and desserts. We vary these specials every day - see our Specials boards.  The dish of the day is usually ready by noon. In addition we have a full menu of light lunches, salads, snacks, cream teas, and sandwiches all day long.  We have gluten-free bread for sandwiches and light lunches, scones and brownies. Please note we don't take bookings, just turn up and we will seat you as soon as we can.

Soup of the Day

Every day we serve a homemade soup with one of Rachel's freshly-baked cheese scones. To provide variety for our regular customers, we often try out new recipes - whether it is simple tomato, or courgette, Brie and basil, our soup is made in our own kitchen with fresh ingredients. We try, where possible, to source our ingredients locally - from Bill Heap's hand-reared fen-grown carrots to the gooseberries and other delicacies from local market gardens.

Dishes of the Day

Again, we ring the changes with our dishes of the day. We usually serve a quiche of the day and it comes out of the oven for 12 noon, and when it has gone, it's gone. We also offer homemade desserts every day.

Our Salads

Generous servings of mixed green salad, beetroot, potato salad and bread and butter with, for example:

  • Smoked salmon
  • Warm brie and cranberry sauce
  • Norfolk ham and spicy red onion marmalade
  • Warm goat's cheese with tomato chilli jam
  • Peacocks Salad

Light Lunches

Our grilled open sandwiches on toasted multiseed bloomer served with a mixed side salad are wonderful and range from goats cheese and beetroot to stilton pear and walnut. Our menu also includes five delicious variants of the classic French croque monsieur (although we doubt whether you'll find a croque as delicious in Paris) as well as scrambled egg and smoked salmon, and more.

Sandwiches

We serve a wide range of sandwiches in white or multiseed bread with a salad garnish. They are all made freshly to order and can be served toasted if you would prefer. Fillings can incude:

  • Smoked salmon and cream cheese
  • Egg and cress
  • Brie with homemade cranberry sauce
  • Farmhouse cheddar with fig chutney
  • Cheddar and apple with spicy red onion marmalade
  • Bacon, banana and maple syrup.
